What day is the parade being held?
The parade will be held on July 4, 2007 - Wednesday.  It's always held on July 4, unless the 4th falls on Sunday.
In that event the parade is held on the Official Holiday).

What time will the parade start and how long will it last?
The parade will step-off at 10:00 a.m., and should be over not later 11:30 a.m. A packet will be mailed to all
approved entries no later than June 23, 2007.  The packet will contain information regarding your placement in
the parade line-up, final instructions on parking entries will need a contact at the June 24th Mandatory Meeting
to learn your placement in the parade lineup, pick up lineup area passes and receive final instructions on
lineup area operations.

What happens if it rains?
In the event of rain, the parade will be delayed on an hour by hour basis, with the objective of completing it on
July 4.  In all the past years the parade has not been delayed or canceled.  It once showered briefly after the
parade was underway, but the parade was not interrupted.

What is the route of the parade?
Beginning at the intersection of Ojai Avenue and Country Club, and proceeding East on Ojai Avenue, the parade
ends at the intersection of Ojai Avenue and Park Road.
At the date of publishing this website information the
process for ending this year's parade has not been formulated.  We will add the process for exiting the parade,
along with information on picking-up your awards in the packet mailed to each entry before June 23, 2007.

How long is the parade route?
The overall length of the parade route is approximately 1.0 mile

How early do I need to get there to get a good spot to view the parade?
Possibly unique to the Ojai parade is the "placing of the chairs".  Sometimes as early as 3-4 days before the 4th
of July, you will see that certain choice or traditional spots have been reserved by placing chairs just behind the
curb at different locations along the route.  Second row spots are usually still available at 7:00 a.m. on the 4th,
but you can always find a suitable place to watch the parade, even after it is underway.  You may want to do
some reconnaissance before parade day.

Who puts the parade on; the City of Ojai?
The parade is put on by the Ojai Independence Day Committee, a nonprofit corporation which has as several
activities,  the planning and conduct of the free concert at Libbey Bowl on July 3; the parade, and the concert and
fireworks at the community stadium.  Working with the cooperation and support of the City of Ojai, the
Committee is able to secure venue sites, insurance coverage, assistance with street closure and security.
Financial support is provided by the people of the Ojai Valley who contribute the money we need to finance the
work of the Committee.  Entry fees help to defray the cost of the distinctive awards provided to winners.
Although the parade is not a profitable activity, other venues (Concert and Fireworks) usually generate enough
to cover expenses for the day.

Where do I park to watch the parade?
You will want to review the parade route, and if possible, scout out your location.  Then you want to park outside
the route on the side streets or public lots.  Many businesses will be closed which offers the possibility of
parking in lots used by  banks, the post office, library, etc.

Is the parade going to be on TV?
As a service to the City of Ojai,  Time Warner films the parade each year.  The announcers and commentary
were a highlight of last year's coverage.  After editing, the parade is shown several times on Channel 10.  You
will need to check Channel 10 for a schedule of showings.
