CATEGORIES a) Pre-1969 classic, antique, custom, street rod, special interest vehicles b) Any year model of an extraordinary, unusual, or special appeal vehicle. Subject to Committee approval-please send photo) 2. JUDGING CRITERIA FOR ALL VEHICLES: All vehicles will be prejudged at lineup area by highly qualified judges. Points of measure used are Rarity, Beauty, Condition, Originality and General Appeal B. MUSIC BANDS: 1. CATEGORIES a) School b) Sponsored c) Military d) Specialty e) Band (not-marching) 2. JUDGING CRITERIA a) Music 1-45 points b) General Effect 1-35 points c) Marching and Maneuvering 1-20 points Possible total points: 100 points DRILL TEAMS 1. CATEGORIES a) Band Connected b) Flag Group c) Tall flags d) Not band connected 2. JUDGING CRITERIA FOR ALL DRILL TEAMS a) Routine 1-30 points b) Performance execution of routine) 1-30 points c) Showmanship and crowd appeal 1-30 points Possible total points: 100 points MARCHING DRUM MAJOR & MAJORETTES/GROUP 1. CATEGORIES a) Major, Senior (over 14) b) Major, Junior (14 or under) c) Majorette – solo d) Majorette - group 2. JUDGING CRITERIA FOR ALL MARCHING MAJORS a) Routine 1-30 points b) Performance (execution of routine) 1-30 points c) Showmanship and crowd appeal 1-40 points Possible total points: 100 points C. COMMERCIAL 1. CATEGORIES a) Float, commercial b) Decorated auto, pick-up or van, commercial c) Marching Group, commercial d) Non-marching Band, commercial 2. JUDGING CRITERIA FOR ALL COMMERCIAL a) Follow criteria for Floats b) Follow criteria for Autos c) Follows criteria for Specialty/Marching/Walking Units d) Follows criteria for Bands, non-marching D. COMMUNITY SERVICE: (Not for Judging) This category is limited to the official vehicles of non-profit organizations (e.g. Red Cross, HELP of Ojai, City Trolley, Fire Engines, Forest Service, Search & Rescue, etc.). E. DIGNITARY (Not for Judging) 1, CATEGORIES Elected Officials, Civic award recipients, Pageant and Scholastic Award Winners F. EQUESTRIAN 1. CATEGORIES Refer to List of Judging Categories JUDGING CRITERIA FOR ALL EQUESTRIAN ENTRIES a) Judged by experienced Judges. (Judging rules available from the Committee) Judging begins at lineup area at 8:00 a.m. G. FLOATS: 1. RULES: a) Floats may not exceed 50 foot in length including the tow vehicle. b) Towing vehicles must be decorated. Points will be deducted for undecorated towing vehicles. c) All floats shall have a skirt to cover the wheels within the bounds of safety. d) All floats must be able to go under utility wires and the event banner along the parade route. 2. CATEGORIES a) Civic b) School (academic) c) School (art, theatre, dance, etc.) d) Organization, Children (Scouts, 4-H, sport teams, etc.) e) Organization, Adult f) Neighborhood g) Church 3. JUDGING CRITERIA FOR ALL FLOATS: a) Construction 1-30 points b) Originality and Creativity 1-25 points c) Beauty & Crowd Appeal 1-35 points d) Theme 1-20 points Possible total points: 100 points Note: 10 points deducted for undecorated tow vehicle H. SPECIALTY –MARCHING/WALKING, WHEELED UNITS: (Categories: Youth and Adult) 1. CATEGORIES a) Color Guard: Military, Adult, Junior, Equestrian b) Patriotic Children: Boy, Girl Small Group, Group c) Organized Group Marching: Youth, Adult Organization, Church Group, School Group d) Character Entry – Walking: Boy, Girl, Adult, Group, Small Group e) Clown: Adult, Junior 9-17, Pre-Junior 8 and under f) Decorated Bicycle/Unicycle: single, Group, Small Group g) Skates/Skateboards/Scooters: Single, Group, Small Group 2. JUDGING CRITERIA a) Overall appearance 1-30 points b) Precision/Performance 1-30 points d) Crowd appeal, 1-40 points Possible total points: 100 points. AWARDS A. DIGNITARY AND COMMUNITY SERVICE entries are not judged. No awards will be presented. B. AUTO/VEHICLE AWARDS One “Best of Parade” award will be presented In addition, five awards will be presented based on the following criteria: Rarity, Beauty, Condition, Originality and General Appeal. C. FIRST AND SECOND PLACE AWARDS will be given to participants in each of the remaining numbered categories on the “LIST OF JUDGING CATEGORIES” D. SWEEPSTAKES AWARDS A Sweepstakes award will be presented to one entry determined to be outstanding in each of the following categories: Band Float Equestrian Best Depiction of Theme “4th of July. . . through a child's eye" |
