This section contains the forms you will need to apply as an entry in the 2007 Ojai Independence Day Parade.

We hope this year's parade theme "4th of July . . .Through a Child's Eye" will inspire your participation. In the
spirit of providing the best old-fashioned parade for the people of the Ojai Valley, the Committee has been
working hard to overcome some of the difficulties we have had in the past. We often hear: "Where are all the
children we used to have. . . with wagons and dogs and stuff?"; "Why wasn't my entry filmed by the television
crew?" and "Why do you always have those big gaps?"
While we can't cure everything at one time, the Committee is making some changes we hope will help:
1. Encourage more participation by children and families.
We're working with the schools, parent groups and teachers to develop more entries by classmates,
neighborhoods, and youth groups.
2. Making sure each entry is filmed.
We've shortened each parade entry description to 100 words which should allow the announcers time to
acknowledge each entry as it passes by the camera.
3. Avoiding the long gaps, or "bunching" up.
We're asking each entry to assign special duties to an "Entry Marshal" to help with the entry at the line-up, and
correct the pace along the parade route to avoid those gaps.
NEW DEADLINE:
You can copy an application packet from this section of the website, or pick one up at the Ojai Recreation
Department at Sarzotti Park. We hope to make them available at other locations throughout the valley soon, or
you can call or email us to have one mailed to you.
